This case study was carried out on an installation by NRG Panel and is great example of solar panels Kildare
Kevin got in contact with us back in April 2020 as he wanted to see are solar panels worth it for him, he found his bills we’re huge for only three people being in the house and he was sick of his unit charge continuously increasing over the last number of years, his wife began working from home since Covid, so there was now usage throughout the day.
Kevin is living in a beautiful 4 bed detached house, The roof was tiled and was south facing which was the ideal orientation for solar panels. As Kevin’s BER rating was a D1 prior to install, he qualified for the SEAI grant as the panels brought him up to a C3 after install, Kevin qualified for an €1,800 rebate on his installation for panels only – it is worth noting that he could received up to €3,000 for solar panels and battery installations.
After a consultation, our energy expert designed a bespoke system for Kevin. They decided that the best option based on the monthly electricity usage, lifestyle, roof space and orientation would be an 8 panel system on the south facing roof with the inverter installed in attic. As Kevin was using oil to heat his water and wanted to reduce his dependency on fossil fuels, so we added on an Eddi diverter and this was installed in the hot press.
The system was installed in May 2020 in just one day. Our aim was to save this customer up to 50% on his bills and to also provide him with some hot water, all the while reducing his carbon footprint and increasing his BER rating.
We caught up with Kevin since the solar panel installation and he said that the system has exceeded his expectations, his bills have been slashed in half and he’s got streams of hot water especially in the summer months. He said that him and the family have been smarter with how they use their electricity since they could see what they were using with the solar app. They now stagger high consumption items like the washing machine and dishwasher and have even upgraded to more energy efficient appliances since the install.
He said that besides the savings and hot water, he has peace of mind knowing that he is doing his small part in protecting the planet from this climate crisis we find ourselves in.
Solar PV is worth the investment and NRG Panel are the leading installer but don’t take our word – Check out this wicked review by Kevin after the installation.
“I’ve just had a Solar Panel System installed by NRG Panel and I couldn’t recommend them highly enough. I had been thinking about getting Solar Panels for quite a while but had held off earlier in the year due to COVID-19, with NRG I felt completely safe as they came well prepared with a hygiene stand and face masks . There was always social distancing, so I had nothing to worry about. The team were great, and the installation went really well. They left the house spotless. I’m looking forward to reaping the benefits on my electric bill !!”
