The following case study was conducted by NRG Panel in 2021. This case study contains imagery and details of a genuine solar panel installation carried out by our team.

David got in contact with us back in February 2020 as he wanted to see are solar panels worth it for him. he had a €190 bimonthly bill and wanted to reduce that. he had researched ways to reduce his bills and decided that solar panels where the solution to his problems.
David is living in a 5 bed detached bungalow in Co. Mayo. The roof was tiled and was east/west facing which was a good orientation for solar panels. As he didn’t have a BER rating prior to the install David did not qualify for the SEAI grant incentive of €1,800 for panel only installation. He did however qualify for the NRG Panel incentive of 3 free panels for those who are not SEAI eligible which meant that he only needed to pay for 8 panels.
UPDATE 2022: Exciting news as the Solar PV grants have just changed for 2022. They have scrapped the BER requirement and the 2011 year of construction requirement.
New solar grant eligibility: Home must be built and occupied prior to 2021 & and you must also never have been in receipt of a PV grant at this address in the past.
New solar grant amount: €900 per kWp up to 2kWp and €300 for every additional kWp up to 4kWp. – No grant aid available for battery
After a consultation, our energy expert designed a bespoke system for David. They decided that the best option based on the monthly electricity usage, lifestyle, roof space and orientation would be an 11 panel system split on the east/west facing roof with the inverter installed in attic. David was using oil to heat is water and wanted to get away from that as much as he could so we added an Eddi diverter to help reduce his dependence on oil.
The system was installed in February 2020 in just one day. Our aim was to save this customer on up to 50% on his bills, hot water, all the while reducing his carbon footprint and increasing his BER rating.
We caught up with David since the solar panel installation he said he was extremely happy with the professional service and the products provided.
