The following case study was conducted by NRG Panel in 2021. This case study contains imagery and details of a genuine solar panel installation carried out by our team.

This case study was carried out on an installation by NRG Panel and is great example of solar panels Roscommon
Mary got in contact with us back in January 2020 as she wanted to see are solar panels worth it for her. She had always been interested in alternative energy and when she had her consultation with NRG panel, she decided to make the move and get solar PV installed.
Mary is living in a 3 bed,-detached bungalow. her roof is slated and the front is facing N/E and the back is S/W. Prior to having solar panels installed she didn’t have a BER rating on her home.
As she didn’t qualify for the SEAI grant, Mary automatically qualified for our NRG Panel incentive available to for those who are not SEAI grant eligible. This incentive is three extra free panels equating to an additional €6,000 savings over the lifetime of the system.
UPDATE 2022: Exciting news as the Solar PV grants have just changed for 2022. They have scrapped the BER requirement and the 2011 year of construction requirement.
New solar grant eligibility: Home must be built and occupied prior to 2021 & and you must also never have been in receipt of a PV grant at this address in the past.
New solar grant amount: €900 per kWp up to 2kWp and €300 for every additional kWp up to 4kWp. – No grant aid available for battery
After our consultation, our energy expert designed a bespoke system for Mary. They decided that the best option based on the monthly electricity usage, lifestyle, roof space and orientation would be a 12 panel system on the back s/w facing roof with the inverter was installed in attic. Mary was using oil to heat her water and wanted to reduce her dependency on this, so we added on an Eddi diverter, this was installed in the hot press.
The installation team arrived on a cold February morning and were finished up by just after lunch. Our aim was to save this customer up to 50% on her bills and to also provide her with some hot water, all the while reducing her carbon footprint and increasing her BER rating.
We caught up with Mary since the solar panel installation and here is what she had to say:
We had PV panels fitted and an Eddi to divert the surplus to heat the water. The team arrived at 8.30 in morning as arranged and completed the job at 1 o clock. they had a very professional team with excellent workmanship all around. What I liked was that everyone one of the team (4 of them) knew the system and could answer all questions.
Our panels have been working for some time and are performing better than than expected, as we are further north. There has been a huge reduction in our electric bills, we have lots of hot water and we are hoping for the payment for surplus to be introduced soon.
Having solar PV installed is a great investment and NRG Panel are the leading installers but don’t take our word – Here’s what Mary had to say just a after the panels were installed.
“We just wanted to say thank you to the team who fitted our PV panels. They were professional, well informed and did a very tidy job. A brilliant team, with each member having excellent knowledge of the system.”.
