Garrett got in contact with us back in 2019 as he wanted to see are solar panels worth it for him, he wanted to upgrade his home and reduce his energy costs, Garrett also decided to have an air to water heat pump installed by NRG Panel, he knew that solar PV and air to water heat pumps were the perfect duo.
Garrett was living in a 33 year old, 5 bed, detached two storey house. his roof was tiled and was south facing which is the ideal orientation for solar panels. Prior to having solar panels installed in his home his BER rating was a D1.
After our consultation, our energy expert designed a bespoke system for Garrett. They decided that the best option based on the monthly electricity usage, lifestyle, roof space and orientation would be a 14 panel system on the back south facing roof and the inverter and battery were installed in attic. Garrett was interested in heating his water and home so we added a Daikin 8kw Altherma 3 heat pump so there was no need for an Eddi diverter for his hot water.
The installation team arrived on a cold morning in March and were finished in just two days. Our aim was to save this customer up to 50% on his overall energy bills and to also provide him with 100% of his heating and hot water needs, all the while reducing his carbon footprint and increasing his BER rating.
We caught up with Garrett since the solar panel install and he said it is all working well and they are very happy with the system. Their electricity bill is averaging around €180 per month, so for all their heating, constant hot water plus their normal electricity use, that is working out very well.
Garrett also said that he is delighted to be finished with oil & they blocked up the open fireplace in the house. An added bonus is that they are also doing their bit for the environment too!

“I had the PV solar panels & the Heat Pump system installed as part of a retro fit to our 30 year old house. Separately we changed the windows & improved the insulation but it brought us from a D1 to an A3 rating!! We now have constant hot water & a nice comfortable heat throughout the house all the time. It’s still too early to judge the electricity bill as we changed provider around that time too.
